Ciao everyone! Just wanted to update potential Italian citizenship seekers regarding a new step towards the Italian dual citizenship process. As per the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation:
As from 8 August 2009 applications or declarations regarding the election, acquisition, reacquisition, renunciation or granting of Italian citizenship are subject to a fee of 200 euro. As from 8 July 2014 applications by legal-age adults for recognition of Italian citizenship are subject to a fee of 300 euro.
What does this mean for those seeking Italian citizenship?
From now on, all those applying for dual citizenship will be subject to a 300 euro processing fee, to be paid directly to the consulate. BEWARE of unscrupulous agencies who ask you to pay them the fee--this fee will go right to Italy to cover processing.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions!
